Tour Plan

Day 1: Ouarzazate - Draa Valley - Nkob - Rissani - Merzouga :

Your unbelievable 3-Day Tour of Ouarzazate to Merzouga starts with an early departure of your Ouarzazate hotel. To begin with, we pass south through the dramatic Anti-Atlas Mountains. Furthermore, the landscape varies rapidly, we drop into the magnificent Draa Valley, one long sheet of palm groves hundreds of kilometers long--an inconceivable image of green life in the desert.

Then we go through old fortified Berber towns, such as Nkob, where centuries old caravan paths can be read in the building work. I remember the pleasant reddish-brown earthen buildings that fit perfectly into the dry mountains. At last we arrive at Merzouga, where the Erg Chebbi dunes can be entered. After doing this, we enter a very nice and well furnished hotel immediately at the beach fringe as we prepare to meet the desert tomorrow. The deep desert experience is ideally introduced by this hotel stop.

Day 2: Merzouga - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley :

Rise early and have a good breakfast and may take a little stroll to feel the fine desert sand before we go away. We start with a drive to Erfoud the site of marvelous marine fossils of world renown. Then, we head on, towards the beautiful Todra Gorges.

Then we visit the enormous canyon, then make a quiet walk between the sheer high walls, rising above 300 meters. Furthermore, the fresh air and the noise of the little river flowing through the oasis underneath are unbelievably refreshing. Lastly, there is the thrilling Dades Valley that boasts of fascinating red rock formations and ancient kasbahs. We relax in a lovely, luxurious guesthouse where we have dinner and also spend the night in the stillness of the valley.

Day 3: Dades Valley - Rose Valley - Skoura Oasis - Ouarzazate :

After a delightful meal with a view of the spectacular Dades Valley, our last scenic route starts and takes us through to Ouarzazate. Originally, we pass on our way to the well-known "Road of 1000 Kasbahs" to the beautiful Rose Valley around Kalaat Mgouna. In the spring you can come and the air is filled with the sweet smell of the Damask roses--a very intoxicating olfactory memory.

We then visit the goods produced using the local rose water and oils which is also a great avenue to sell out local cooperatives. Furthermore, our way continues, and we move through the large palm groves of the Skoura Oasis with its numerous beautiful historic kasbahs.
