Tour Plan

Day 1: Casablanca Arrival and Jewish Cultural Tour :

Your Jewish Tour of Morocco starts at the moment you arrive in Casablanca. There is a strong sense of modernity and strong history that I always have here. Your first visit is the architectural marvel of the Hassan II Mosque, which looms over the shoreline the sheer size and the detail is unbelievable.

Then we enter the Museum of the Moroccan Judaism, a must see. The first museum of its kind in the Arab world, this museum contains a gorgeous array of ritual items and clothing, to tell a living, breathing story. Then we go to the present Temple Beth-El, and see its fine stained-glass windows. The warm reception within us, they say, is a sure indication of the special character of the tour, and a Kosher dinner is the last delight to your first day.

Day 2: Casablanca's Mellah and Rabat's Imperial Majesty :

Today our Morocco Jewish Tour begins in the old Mellah in Casablanca which is always interesting to see the evidence of the old Jewish quarter. Then we move on to the political capital, Rabat, which is classy and calm in contrast to the vitality of Casablanca.

The most impressive moments that struck me emotionally were the greatness of the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the great Hassan Tower, that symbolically impresses with all the power of the independence of Morocco in the present times. It is then a contemplative experience to walk in the quiet Mellah of Rabat itself. We also visit the pre-historic Chellah Necropolis which is a Roman ruin resting side by side with Islamic tombs, and it reveals the strata of history. Tonight, you will stay in a beautiful and comfortable riad, which is exactly one of the tastes of the Moroccan tours.

Day 3: Rabat to Fes: Medieval Jewish Quarters :

We leave Rabat, and we head inland, and thus our Jewish Tour of Morocco takes us to the ancient city of Meknes. Specifically, here we go to see the old Jewish district and the sacred grave of Rabbi David Benmidan which is of great importance to the community.

We see a great transformation of the scenery then as we approach Fes, the oldest of the Imperial Cities. Upon arrival, a professional Jewish cultural walking tour sets off at once to emphasize the peculiar Fes history. The Ibn Danan Synagogue and the massive Jew Cemetery of Fes are heartrending destinations, and therefore they can be used to really gain an understanding of centuries of co-existence. Moreover, it is an enchanted experience to go through the Fes Medina crowded and bustling streets on your free evening and then go back to your serene riad.

Day 4: Fes to the Sahara Desert: Across the Atlas :

Today is a thrilling day! Our Morocco Jewish Tour itinerary will first visit Seffrou, a town that is traditionally renowned due to the preserved Mellah and its glorious tradition of interfaith coexistence after breakfast. It is among my favourite visits since it demonstrates Moroccan tolerance indeed.

Then we traverse the fantastic Middle Atlas Mountains where the scenery is marvellously beautiful. The expedition brings us through Berber villages and amazing scenes and then we eventually arrive at Merzouga, the entrance to the gigantic dunes. The next moment you are driven in a 4x4 to your luxury camp in the desert Merzouga Morocco which is a really exclusive adventure. The idea of having to sleep in a finest luxury camp Merzouga puts the long journey fully in place.

Day 5: Sahara Desert Luxury Tour :

Rise early in the morning and then experience one of the best things in your tour of Morocco Jewish Tour, namely the desert sunrise! Having seen the enormous dunes change their color to purple and subsequently change it to gold is the highest kind of tranquility and thus I will never forget it. We spend the morning in the unique desert environment after a lavish breakfast, perhaps visiting a nomadic Berber family.

In the afternoon, however, we are ready to experience the ultimate luxury of the Sahara desert tour. Taking a ride on a camel through the massive dunes of the Erg Chebbi as the sky bursts open with color is quite magical, indeed a dream photo. Your dinner that evening at the desert luxury camp Morocco is a feast, in which case there is often traditional Berber music and storytelling, all under a star-studded sky that is impossible to believe. This is a memorable Marrakech to Fes desert tour luxury as a result, this night.

Day 6: Rissani History and the Dramatic Gorges :

The last, but by no means the least, sunrise in the dunes, and then it is time to see our final driver in the next part of our Morocco Jewish Tour. The first destination is Rissani, a historical town, and the primitive headquarters of the current dynasty of Morocco. The Rissani market is a very lively bustling market where you can find the traditional trade being practiced.

Then we proceed to the wonderful Todra Gorges, and see soaring up on both sides huge cliffs of limestones--the height is enormous. The River is a cool, pleasant walk between the great walls. After this, we would take a ride across the beautiful Dades Valley, which boasts of waving tracks and magnificent red rocks. The day is crowned by a quiet dinner and a pleasant rest in the valley.

Day 7: Dades to Marrakech: Kasbahs and Mountain Passes :

We start our day in the Dades Valley and our Jewish Tour of Morocco proceeds along the well known Road of 1000 Kasbahs. Next, we find ourselves at Ouarzazate the Moroccan Hollywood, where we can visit the Atlas Film Studios which is always entertaining.

Next, we get to a glorious, UNESCO-protected Ksar of Ait Benhaddou, a breathtaking fortified mud-brick village, where numerous popular movies have been shot. I do recall the vivid reddish-brown mud construction in contrast with the blue sky, it is really impressive. Lastly, we traverse the High Atlas Mountains through the amazingly beautiful Tizi n Tichka Pass where one can have jaw-dropping mountainous sceneries and eventually come down into the vibrant noise of Marrakech.

Day 8: Full Day in Marrakech :

The last Imperial City that we will visit during our Morocco Jewish Tour is Marrakech and it is a vibrant place! The beginning of our day lies in a visit to the peaceful Majorelle Garden, known as the magnificent cobalt blue-colored buildings and the unusual flora. This quiet pool is a marvelous contrast of the busy city.

Then we sink into the deep history of the Jews and visit in the Jewish Mellah and the oldest Synagogue in the city, the Lazama Synagogue. The narrative of this community is one of the strong ones in the history of Marrakech. During the afternoon, we visit the colorful and sensuous souks and close the day in the legendary Jemaa el-Fnaa Square where storytellers and food stalls make an unforgettable show. This is one of the key events of any luxury tours Marrakech programme.

Day 9: Marrakech to Coastal Essaouira :

Our Morocco Jewish Tour today will drive us to the Atlantic coast where the heat of the city will be replaced with the coolness of the ocean breeze in Essaouira. On the way we pass the goat country of Argan trees, and you will even see goats climbing the trees, a most comical thing to see! We visit a co-operative to learn the traditional process of extracting the well known Argan oil.

Essaouira is a beautiful and easy-going port with its colors blue and white, and ramparts which are its hallmark. Here we enter the quiet, homely Jewish quarter, and observe the traces of its past population, which was a great trading quarter. Take a stroll through the seaside castle, the Skala de la Ville and enjoy a breath-taking scenery as well as a marvelling history before you have your seafood dinner.

Day 10: Essaouira to Casablanca Departure :

That is the end of an incredible Morocco Jewish Tour as we have a beautiful ride back up the Atlantic coast to casablanca. The sea scenery is beautiful and gives one time to evaluate his or her past.

At the port we will make a good and comfortable transfer to Casablanca International Airport and your ten days of historical cultural exploration will be over. You leave with the suit case of beautiful memories in your hand having explored the finest of the rich Moroccan landscape and its rich and lasting Jewish heritage, an experience that could only be gained with a special Morocco Jewish Tour.
